This will especially please fans of similar hermetic Folk music, like Ulver’s Kveldssanger.” Soulful and sometimes even Gregorian-like male chanting abounds through woodwind, acoustic, and string instruments. It is both contemplative and like a lullaby, equally bringing thought and slumber to the souls of the restless. Like drifting in a boat along a course that is unknown, and headed to wherever the tide brings one to land, “Saivo” is a slow yet progressive journey. With this release, the five piece takes us far, far away from the void of humanity and beckons us into the ambient dreamscapes of the northern wilds. “Saivo” is the tenth album from the NeoFolk Finnish ensemble Tenhi. Standouts are “Fimbul”, “A Young Man and His Woman”and “Salomonsens Hage” There is plenty of existential weed smoking to go around.

Tusmorke has the distinction of lyrical themes based on the Scandinavian pantheon and mythos, which brings the Woodstock-era hippie cult genre into the modern era of Neopaganism.
